Furnaces

Image of A FurnaceThere are many types of furnace all used for different purposes from household use to industrial waste disposal. As well as the different uses there are now the different materials used for example gas, wood or electric. Some of these various types of furnace are below with the purpose they serve and the effect they have on the environment;

Available Types of Furnace

There are a few varieties of waste furnaces some of these are below with where they are usually used;

  • Wooden furnace - This type of furnace is usually the kind that people have at their homes to dispose of garden waste and also heat their water systems. This is because the furnaces are generally kept outside peoples homes and are then linked to a boiler that can provide the home with enough hot water to heat the water systems.
  • Gas furnaces - These tend to be more industrial based and can be used to dispose of many different types of waste. These are often referred to as incinerators and can be used to dispose of waste at landfill sites, building sites and even hospitals.

An Internal FurnaceThere are other types of furnace but often used for various purposes instead of waste disposal, such as the heating of a home or the heating of water etc.

Effects of Furnaces on the Environment

Although they dispose of a lot of waste a lot of them give off a high amount of green house gases. With some types of furnace having a large amount of greenhouse gases as waste there are now steps being taken to try and reduce the levels these furnaces produce. Many places are also trying to reduce the usage of furnaces through out all industries so in turn reduce the large amount of greenhouse gases being expelled into the atmosphere.
